Designer Whey Review

by Jillian on May 24, 2013 · 3 comments

As part of my partnership with FitFluential, I had the opportunity to receive and review some Designer Whey products. I’ve been making protein shakes in the blender with whey powder for years, so I am always interested in trying new powders. I was really excited to also try the protein bars, ready to drink shakes, and their Protein 2GO packs that you can mix with water.

We all know that there are many sources of protein. While I wish I could sit down to over easy eggs every morning, I usually end up running late and needing a fast and easy option. Most mornings, I’ll make my protein shake in the blender for the road.

I used to use a ton of ingredients in my shakes but lately I try to keep it simple, using only a few ingredients. The staples are frozen banana, whey protein powder, almond milk, spinach, and sometimes berries, peanut powder, or cocoa powder.

I made this basic recipe with both flavors. I really enjoyed the white chocolate. It was just a little bit different than most flavors that I am used to. Sometimes, I feel the need to add more ingredients to mask the taste of whey powder, but these were delicious on their own.

The french vanilla was great as well, with a mild vanilla flavor. The vanilla beans on the front made me think the flavor was going to be more distinct, but it was still delicious!

What I really liked about the powder, aside from the fact that it’s sweetened with stevia, is that the size of the scoop is the same as some other powders I have used, but yet it’s only 100 calories and still contains 18g. of protein!

The protein bars come in Peanut Butter Crunch, Triple Chocolate Crunch, and Chocolate Caramel Crunch. My favorite, by far, was the peanut butter of course!

I loved the little crunchies inside and the fact that it didn’t have that protein bar taste. The ingredient list wasn’t the most flattering, but the bars tasted delicious and were only 160 calories with 10g protein.

I usually have time to make my own shakes in the blender, but Joe tends to take his on the run. These ready to drink shakes were right up his alley!

The Protein 2GO was interesting. I had never thought of adding protein to my water to sneak in some extra grams per day! I was sort of weird about the flavors though, as I am used to enjoying chocolate or vanilla whey protein.

Overall, I was really impressed with all of the Designer Whey products. I would definitely purchase the protein powder and would love to try some of the other flavors they have available!

Designer Whey is awesome. I really want to try their Protein 2GO packets. I’ll have to search around for those! I love flavored water!

Thanks for sharing, I like reading other peoples opinions about products before I try them and the fact that you said these powders don’t taste like whey means I’ll probably give them a go…it’s so hard to find nice protein powder.

Interesting! I’ve only tried whey once, and I really disliked it. However, I feel like this powder might be more enjoyable for me!
