The last week and a half have been a whirlwind, and I can only prepare for next week, when I will be travelling yet again for work.
I last left off when I was packing for Italy. The trip only had me away from Thursday night until Monday evening, but between the time change and lack of sleep, it felt a lot longer! The headquarters of the company I work for is in Italy. It’s absolutely beautiful.
Most of the time was spent either in presentations, touring the headquarters…
eating in their on-site cafe with many healthy options, or on an espresso break.
Not much exercise happened being that our days lasted up to 15 hours. We did, however, find a quaint little yoga studio on the first night. It was kind of funny trying to take yoga from an Italian speaking teacher, but it was just what I needed after 8.5 hours on a plane!
That clears up why I didn’t blog from Friday through Tuesday (jet lagged), but what about the rest? Well, I finally got back to the office on Wednesday which was the same day Joe’s new restaurant openend. Which also, is the same day I started to get sick again. I was under the weather for a week before I left for Italy, and of course with about 12 hours of sleep total in 4 nights, I got sick again!
I can honestly say there were more than a few days in the last week and a half where I didn’t have a minute to breathe, let alone blog. It’s crazy, sometimes I forget how regimened I am when I’m not on the go for days straight. For the last 10 days I haven’t meal planned, worked out (aside from 2 short workouts), cleaned, paid bills, or shopped. The house is a mess, I have to buy lunch this week, I have the longest to do list ever, and I feel so out of routine. However, it sort of feels liberating to just forget everything for a while an live in the moment. I barely slept in Italy, I slept too much this weekend while being sick, and I ordered a ton of take-out but sometimes you have to just go with it.
I helped Joe out as much as I could on Wednesday and Thursday night.
Yes, there is a mechanical bull. I remember over a year ago when Joe first said he was going to have a bull, and now here it is! I am so proud of him – the town is responding really well and it’s such a fun atmosphere!
I spent the remainder of Friday through today trying to fight off this sickness, and not really paying much attention to what I eat. It’s basically been soup, tea, and a lot of sweets. I know I should probably focus on eating a lot of vegetables in order to get better, but when I’m sick I crave bread, carbs, chocolate, and basically anything else that’s brown (almost, ha, sorry I’m 5). Anyway, I’ve been eating a lot of escarole & bean soup and taking echinacea pills, so that counts.
At least Gus has been keeping me company, and bathing in front of me apparently.
Love this little feline, fur ball, fur bag, Gustavio, le paw…. if you didn’t get what was just happening, Joe and I have already geeked out and made a ton of nicknames for him.
PS. I just made bread that tastes JUST like Ezekiel cinnamon raison english muffins (more on that later). I’ll be saving a lot of money from now on!
PSS. I am LOVING the later daylight. Getting home from work when it’s still light out is glorious – hello evening outdoor runs!
PSSS. One of my fire alarms is beeping for a battery change and I cannot for the life of me pinpoint which one it is. Am I the only one?
This is it, I promise: HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!!!!
This is her and I last year at her surprise party that I planned!
