Two Workouts in 12 Hours

by Jillian on January 22, 2013 · 10 comments

I am not the type of person that would ever over train. Trust me, I’m more likely to skip a workout than spend more than 60 minutes at the gym. However, because of the situation, I ended up doing 2 pretty intense workouts within a matter of 12 hours.

Last night after work, I went to a customer’s studio to check out the facility as well as do a small group workout.

It was a 30 minute total body workout that left me feeling energized and surprisingly mobile. You know that feeling you get after a great yoga session? That’s how I felt.

We ended up playing around on some other equipment while he was showing us around, so I didn’t do too bad in the calorie burn department.

As usual, I was starving by the time I get home. As soon as I walked in the door, I raided the fridge. Hummus, lentil chips, leftover chicken, and brownies were all consumed before finding my “dinner” on the doorstep.

My Netrition order came yesterday and whenever I get a new product, I usually can’t wait more than 5 seconds to dig in. I’ve been wanting to try P28 protein bread for years. No joke. I’ve had it in my iPhone notes and Netrition finally started selling it, so I scooped one up.

I did what any normal person would do and put almond butterand banana on it. The bread consistency was different than normal bread. It was a little chewier, but with a quick toast, it’s just like whole wheat but with 14g of protein per slice! I also really like the new Barney Bare. The original stuff has added sugar and salt, but this honestly doesn’t taste bland despite not having any additives except for palm fruit oil. The consistency is smooth like your typical Jiffy peanut butter, which is what makes is super awesome.

Bootcamp

Remember last year when I did 5am bootcamp? Guess what? I’m baaaaack!

Joe got me a gift card for it for Christmas. I asked for it, but the 4:45am wake up was not fun. I knew I was going to need something to power me through, so I mixed Fitmixer aminos in a to-go bottle last night to drink on the drive to the gym.

It was all set up when I walked in, and to be honest, I was a bit nervous since I’d just done an intense workout less than 12 hours prior.

Despite my nerves, I rocked it! I felt so good and I have no idea where all of my energy came from.

When I burn that much, it’s usually a ravenous type of day.

I made a huge, thick green smoothie with frozen Chobani cubes, banana, spinach, protein powder, almond milk, and frozen dark sweet cherries.

I love the feeling of finishing a workout before work. Now I can look forward to relaxing on the couch watching TV with ice cream salmon and veggies later.

  • What’s the best new food product you’ve had lately?
  • Are you an early morning or evening exerciser?

I couldn’t decide. Next time I am going to try the bagels and then the flat bread :) I really don’t need three types of bread in the house, but I almost got all 3!

Wow calorie burn! What type of cardio were you doing in your boot camp to keep your HR up so high?

We did everything from broad jump burpees to box jumps to sprints to bear crawls. We mixed in strength with lighter weights; clean and press, weighted walking lunges, TRX work… basically 5 stations with 3 exercises each, rotated 3 times for 45 seconds each. It was intense!

I always feel awesome after a sweaty, challenging workout or run. It definitely deserves some couch time!

I’m a late morning exerciser, usually…around 10-11 am. The nice thing about a student schedule! I could not do a 5 am bootcamp, you definitely get kudos for that!

All of your posts make me want to invest in a Polar heart rate monitor. Way to go for getting up so early. With my crazy work and school schedule, sadly I am now a night time work out girl.

I didn’t have one for years and now that I have one, I am addicted. I wear it for every workout! It makes me push myself when I close to a certain amount of calories.

I’m excited to check out P28–I’ve never heard of it. And good for you for the 5 am workout. Wow. And only 12 hours after your last intense workout. You’re giving me strength to get up for my own early-morning spin class (have to get up at 5:40)! Thanks for posting!
