I didn’t blog yesterday because I slept really late. Like, afternoon late. But in all fairness, I got home from work after 2:00AM and I was still feeling really sick. Obviously my body was begging for rest, so rest is what I gave it. I took a break from working out, too. Considering I woke up in a sweat the two nights prior to that (most likely due to being sick), I figured I didn’t really need to sweat anything else out. Anyway, I worked a short shift last night, got a good nights sleep, and I feel much better today!
I was hoping to wake up a bit earlier for my run scheduled run this morning, but again, I let my body rest until I felt ready. It turned out not to be as hot as my iPhone predicted. It was, however, extremely muggy and foggy which made for a terrible view of the beautiful New Jersey industrial parks we have to look at.
I was just glad that the rain held up. I was sort of crampy for the first 2 miles but it settled down after that.
I finished 5 miles in under 45 minutes, about 45 second less than last Saturday’s 5 miler. I was actually surprised because I felt like I started off super slow, but mile 3 was an 8:38 pace.
I was a mess. I didn’t take a picture of my back, but the entire back of my shirt of drenched. I must have sweat out the last bit of sickness!
I am really happy with my improvement on running. Three miles now feels like cake, and 5 miles like pie. You know, not as good as cake, but still pretty good. Sorry for you pie lovers who are unable to relate to that analogy.
As soon as I arrived home, I broke open one of the Vega energizing smoothie samples that the company sent me to try out. I was craving something creamy and chocolate! I’m not going to apologize for the blurry iPhone photos today because I was just too hungry to go look for my digital camera.
I blended it with spinach, ice, banana and my favorite dairy free milk.
The perfect product for the indecisive type like me. Coconut or almond? Who needs to choose when you have this!
I stepped outside with my shake because it was nice and cool outside the lighting was better for a photo.
Before Vega sent me these samples, I did try a few of the flavors, but not all. I’m really loving the stats on these and so far my favorite is the chocolate.
There’s 11g protein, 1g sugar, 7g fiber, and a ton of other nutrients packed in only 105 calories.
On another note, Joe gets home tonight! He was in New Orleans for a work event since Wednesday. I’m so excited to see him! Weeeeee!
Have a great Saturday, friends!

I wish 5 runs was easier for me! I’ve lost some of my running mojo from last summer, I think this fall when it’s a bit cooler I’ll focus on getting that back for a while.
The chocolate is my favorite flavor too!!! It’s so good! Nice work on the run!
Happy to hear you are feeling better! xoxo
Great job on your run! I must try those vega smoothies one day… they look delish.
Joe and I are passing ships. I’m headed to NOLA tomorrow for work.
Hope all is well lady!
I saw that almond coconut milk today at the store and thought about getting it but then totally chickened out. I was afraid it may taste funny…noted for next time!
Great run, girl! Especially considering you still weren’t 100%. Some of my best workouts have strangely been when I’m recovering from a cold or flu. It’s a battle getting to the gym, but once I’m there and warmed up, I feel SO much better. Sweating really clears up the sinuses too!
I need to get my hands on the almond-coconut milk; it sounds amazing! xoxo <3
That’s a pretty great run for not feeling the best! Great job on working through it.
I haven’t had the chocolate vega in forever, I love the vanilla chai. Its definitely my favourite one.
