I was determined to fit the rest of my Portland recaps into one post. So here goes…
After our amazing day at Montinore Vineyard, we went to Beaker and Flask for dinner. Our friend Amanda works there.
I started off with the “zangarita” which was a margarita made with carrot juice, cumin, cilantro syrup, and a few other ingredients. It was really interesting and I highly enjoyed it. All of the cocktails on the list were really unique!
I didn’t snap any photos of the food, but the 6 of us shared dishes like sweetbread stuffed rabbit, seared sturgeon, grilled lamb, short ribs, whole roasted pig, pork belly, and a lot of delicious wine!
Afterwards, Amanda and Judson took us to a nearby bar called A Roadside Attraction. It was super hipster but really cool inside.
Joe and I sat at these crazy thrones while enjoying our beers.
After a fun night, we headed back to the hotel for some sleep before our hike.
We all woke up needing breakfast, so first things first.
Café Zeus was definitely one of my favorite breakfast meals, by far. I got the spinach, chevre, and wild mushroom scramble. It came with a side of creamy grits and toast with jam. I also added bacon because every piece of bacon I had in Portland was amazing, so I figured why not fill up with the good stuff while I can!?
Anyway, eventually we headed up to Horsetail Falls where we hiked along the Columbia River.
The waterfalls were absolutely gorgeous.
At one point, we came up to Ponytail Falls, which leads down to Horsetail Falls. It was so neat how the rock fixture formed this little pocket underneath the water fall.
We hiked about 3 miles and then instead of turning back around, we headed back down in another direction. The whole hike was beautiful and refreshing. I wish we had this near us in New Jersey!
Our last night in Portland ended with dinner at Gilt Club…
and Voodoo doughnuts.
Our flight left at 11AM on Thursday. I was beyond sad.
The only good thing about the entire day of travel was eating at Boudin during our layover in San Francisco.
It’s like Panera, but better, and with super amazing sourdough bread.
Well, that’s all for my Portland recaps. I hope you enjoyed!

Glad you had a great time! We did that hike a few years ago….gorgeous! What doughnut did you get at Voodoo??
The oreo cookie topped one! The soft pillowy donuts are way better than the hard coffee donuts!
Amazing scenery!! What a great few days you had in Portland!
Looks like a fabulous trip! My best friend is moving there in a couple weeks (which I think I already told you) but I’m so excited to be able to go visit her. I know she’s really excited about all of the delicious eats and the whole atmosphere.
She’s going to looooove it!
I can honestly say I’ve never seen a margarita made with carrot juice before – that must have been really different!
