5 Mile Progressive Run

Hopefully someday I’ll stop being lazy and start taking pictures with my regular camera instead of my iPhone. Ever since I hopped on the Instagram train, I’ve been using my phone as my main photo source. By the way, if you’re not following me already, my name on Instagram is @jillianleo.

Speaking of Instagram pictures….

Guess what I did last night? Hung out at a daycare, apparently.

I bought a Living Social coupon for a CPR class and the group that holds them just rents out space I guess, so it was held at a local daycare. Hey, whatever. It was through the American Heart Association and everything was legit, so for $40, I am now CPR certified! I’m one step closer to being a personal trainer folks. Hopefully I’ll be able to give you some good news very soon!

Workout

This morning got off to a late start and I was totally not feeling any sort of run, but Joe convinced me. I started out slow and eventually came up with a formula as I always do since I’m super weird with numbers. I increased my speed by .1 every .25 miles.

I’d consider this a progressive run, since every mile was completed at a faster pace that the one before it. I also upped my speed to 8.0 for the last quarter mile, just because I was feeling awesome.

I finished 5 miles in great time, as far as I’m concerned. My 5 milers are normally closer to 45 or 46 minutes, so I was really happy with this. I feel that my speed and endurance has been slowly increasing lately, and I’m liking it.

Gotta get geared up for half marathon training!

Breakfast was a test. I bought these Vega samples the other day and decided to try out the performance one.

To be honest, of all the ones I tried my favorite was the chocolate smoothie. The vanilla performance protein was just okay. I’d still prefer SunWarrior over this. I will however, consider purchasing the chocolate smoothie!

Alright, I have a lot on the agenda today so I need to scoot.

I’m addicted to Living Social and Groupon. Great that it’s useful in your pursuits- you’ll be a great personal trainer!

I’ve never tried the vega performance, but I really like their vanilla chai one. It is so good, I probably prefer it a little more in smoothies than sun warrior. Great job on the run and doing the CPR course! That’s something I still need to do. Drat.

Are you following a specific training plan for your half? I have about 2 days to pick one out so I need to hop to it!
