I hope you guys don’t mind that I setup all my giveaways to be posted on Fridays! I work a double now every Friday, so it just works better that way. Anyway, thank you for all of entries for the Gnu bar giveaway. I truly love these bars – my mom even took up the $7.95 offer to test them out!
We’ll pick up where I last left off: Thursday evening.
I mentioned that I had a dinner date with some lovely ladies. Amy, Lindsay, & Emily from Chobani met Ashley and I for dinner at The Meatball Shop in NYC. Pretty much everything about it was ridiculous and we loved every minute. The options were endless. You chose the type of ball, the sauce, if you want it over a salad, on a hero, on slider buns, in a bowl with focaccia, etc. I went with the kitchen sink salad topped with traditional beef balls and tomato sauce. I normally wouldn’t have gone for beef, but all of the meat is raised antibiotic and hormone free.
It came with fennel, white beans, arugula, chickpeas, apples, and potatoes. We shared a plethora of sides including salad, risotto, polenta, swiss chard, and carrots.
I also had a glass of a chardonnay blend.
That wasn’t all though. For dessert, they offer ice cream cookie sandwiches and you can mix and match the top and bottom cookie with your choice of ice cream.
We chose mint ice cream sandwiched between a chocolate chip and peanut butter cookie, plus an oatmeal coconut cookie, chocolate brownie cookie, and strawberry tarragon ice cream combination. We didn’t let one bite go to waste!
Friday after work, I stopped at Whole Foods for a salad bar dinner. Can’t go wrong with that!
A hodgepodge of quinoa cake, falafel, eggplant salad, kale, and tofu went into the box.
As I was on my way to the checkout counter, I passed the protein powder aisle and nut butter aisle. Okay, so I made it a point to walk by them. Anyway, I grabbed a few proteins to try out that I read about recently and also picked up a jar of Justin’s vanilla almond butter that these girls have been raving about. They didn’t have the sample packs of it so I was like “What the heck!? I’ll just buy the $9.99 jar!”. When I got up to the counter, the sales girl said “your peanut butter is free today because it’s not in the system yet”. WHAT!?
I told her that she just made my day!
I went home with dinner, 4 protein samples, and free crack in a jar.
Saturday started off with a nice long morning of sleeping in! Followed by a quick gym session that included abs, a fast 1.5 mile run, and some triceps and shoulder work.
I came home, ate, showered, packed, kissed Joe goodbye, and hit the road to PA. But not without a quick pit stop!
After 2 hours, I arrived at my Mom’s house. I had a few minutes to grab a quick snack and get ready before we went to church and to see my grandpa.
We took him for pizza and later stopped to get him a milkshake, which he thoroughly enjoyed.
We got a fresh tomato and cheese pie which was absolutely delicious. I balanced it out with a grilled chicken salad, but I did end up eating two pieces. It was so good and I can’t wait to have the leftovers tomorrow.
Afterwards, we drove to the cemetery to put flowers on my grandma’s grave.
That’s my grandpa’s name to the left. My grandmother passed away 33 years ago today in 1979. Veronica was her name and is also my middle name. I never got to meet her since I wasn’t born yet!
We dropped my grandpa off and got home around 8:30.
Now I’m about to go eat dessert! I hope you’re all having a wonderful weekend!
