Unorganized, Dirty, and Unhealthy

It’s crazy how a short trip will throw me off schedule. I am the type of person that likes routine and gets flustered when things don’t go as planned. I think I’ve mentioned that before. Like, my suitcase needs to be unpacked in about 3.5 seconds after I get home. I had a worry-free 5 days in California, which led to a worry-full 4 days in New Jersey.

My flight arrived at 4:45pm on Monday. Joe picked me up and we headed right to the restaurant because he had a meeting with his attorney. That turned into us eating pizza and a cheese/charcuterie plate and leaving around 9:30. I was scheduled to work a double (10:30 am – 10pm, first cut if/when slow) on Tuesday and Wednesday. To me, this immediately meant:

  • no grocery shopping even though our fridge is empty
  • my suitcase hanging out unpacked for a few days
  • 5 piles of laundry that will be left undone
  • skipping workouts
  • unhealthy, unplanned meals
  • not much sleep, still jet lagged
  • my google reader, e-mail, and blog will be ignored

But, you know what!? I got through it. Despite my google reader showing 400 new items for the first time, wearing a ratty old gym shirt that I haven’t worn in years because nothing else was clean, and eating regular wheat pasta with ground beef (gasp!) during “family meal” at work, I survived.

I did go to the gym Tuesday morning and complete 5 miles with Joe, and even though that was the only thing I accomplished besides work that day, I was thankful for it. I ended up getting cut yesterday around 5:30 because we had more than enough people, so I stopped at Trader Joe’s and stocked up on the necessities (ie. 11 bananas because they are 19 cents a piece). I’m on laundry load number 3 between last night and this morning.

I woke up happy to not have work and not work out immediately since I have a fun event today at 4pm which includes bootcamp, Caitlin, and Ashley. I’m so excited to catch up with those two!

I ate a classic for breakfast.


I toasted a whole wheat english muffin and topped one side with peanut butter and one side with crunchy almond butter (thank for that Courtney!) followed by banana, cinnamon, chia seeds, honey, and vanilla almond granola.


I’m now enjoying a cup of coffee straight from the K-cup which has been unused for a week!


…and catching up on life. I don’t know where to start with google reader! I have a large list of to-dos, but I am not letting it get to me! I am instead, looking at the fun things I have lined up for the next week or so.


Things will fall into place and you will catch up on life. It always works out and the more you stress about it, the worse it becomes. My dirty clothes aren’t going to kill me. Wheat pasta and fatty ground beef on the other hand……..

I’m the same way after a trip! bb hates that I refuse to unpack and live out of my suitcase for even longer than the trip I was on. I hate doing laundry and I love when I can do it at the house I’m staying at and bring everything back clean.
And take out is always a must for dinner on travel days.

Girl, I feel the exact same way about travel & coming home!! The next week is always disastrousfor me!! Hope you get back in the swing! Your blog name is super cute!!!!!
