Sniffling in the New Year

by Jillian on December 30, 2011 · 5 comments

The sickness continues. I woke up still congested with a headache and burning sinuses. Sniffles, coughs, and sneezes galore. Ugh! I haven’t had coffee all week, which means I must really be sick. I did have a form of coffee though!

Last week, I came home to a surprise package on my doorstep. The awesome people over at Larabar sent me samples of one of their new flavors for 2012; Cappucino! There is actually coffee in it.

If you like coffee flavor, you’ll enjoy this. A lot of the Larabars don’t have a distinct taste (a.k.a. they taste like straight up dates), but this flavor is awesome. It’s up there with blueberry muffin and chocolate cherry torte!

It was a half day at work because of the holiday, so I was home by 2:00. I couldn’t wait to get back in my jammies and hit the couch. I heated up some soup from yesterday to ease my sinuses.

I used some of the crusty wheat bread I bought yesterday and toasted it with campari tomatoes, fresh basil, and shaved pecorino.

Crusty on the outside, soft on the inside. Just the way I like it. Plus some extra cheese shreds.

I’ve been reading everyone’s 2011 recaps and top 10 posts all day. I don’t know. I am back and forth about the idea. I didn’t hate 2011, but it wasn’t anything special. Although, I’d say starting this little blog was a special day in my ¬†life. I am more excited to talk about the changes and hopeful accomplishments for 2012. We’ll see. If I bang out a post before my coat checker shift at Joe’s restaurant tomorrow night (yes, those are my plans..girl needs a kiss at midnight!), I’ll post it. If not, see ya in 2012!

  • What are your NYE plans?
  • How would you rate your 2011? Awesome, so-so, awful?

I feel exactly the same way about 2011–totally indifferent. I guess that’s better than feeling like it was awful? Haha! But in all seriousness, here’s to making 2012 actually memorable. A lofty goal, but a good one I think.

I feel you about 2011. It was just alright for me. I am sick too! I swear I’m getting worse and worse as it gets closer to NYE, which sucks because I had plans, but oh well. Also that combination of bread and tomatoes looks really good.
