Morning Endorphins

I walked into the gym this morning and was staring through the glass into the fitness-class room. There were TRX straps hanging all across the ceiling. As I was staring, one of the trainers came up to me and asked if I was interested in a demo class. I was so tempted, but really looking forward to some cardio, and I only had an hour at this point. Instead she signed me up for the next demo on Sunday at 7:45 am (yeah, we’ll see if that happens).

Anyway, I have wanted to try these for so long and they will be running a 6am Monday class for four weeks. I definitely want to demo it before committing, though.

After speaking with the trainer, I went ahead with my workout as planned. I did some planks and barbell trunk bends for my core, followed by 45 minutes of hodge podge cardio (15 minutes HIIT on the treadmill, 15 minutes HIIT on the elliptical, and 15 minutes on the stairmaster).

Breakfast was a quick one. I was running late. What’s new?

I had one of Mama Pea’s pumpkin protein bars that I made on Saturday, with a smear of sunflower seed butter. I also munched on some jumbo super sweet blackberries. Somehow, they are way better than the blackberries I had been buying over the summer. Weird.

I missed a few work outs last week because I was just in a super weird mood, especially after last Friday’s freak out. This morning’s workout was just was I needed and it made me realize how much I really need those endorphins in the morning! I am definitely in a bit of a better mood today, despite the fact that nothing has really “gotten better”, I guess. Life changes post to come soon — the one I’ve been promising for days and drafted for over a week!

Lunch included the veggies that I prepped over the weekend. I brought in eggplant that I prepared by dipping it in egg whites, then lightly in a mixture of bread crumbs and parmesan cheese. I baked for 20 minutes at 350 degrees.

I paired it with fresh mutz and covered it in balsamic vinegar on a Udi’s whole wheat bread.

Roasted brussels on the side, always a favorite.

Now, back to work. Womp womp.

  • Have you tried TRX? Do you get a full body workout? How do you feel about it?
  • Is your mood affected by working out vs. not working out? Endorphins definitly give me that much needed morning mood boost!

I used to take TRX at Crunch, and definitely felt like it was a full body workout. I also used it recently in a “Fitness Revolution” class – and could barely do the exercise! And yes – my mood is definitely affected by exercise. I’ve gone a week without it ;( and look SO forward to running & yoga tonight!

Your meals always look so good, and healthy, too!
