I am thankful that Irene did not turn out to be as bad as expected. My thoughts and prayers are with those who have had extreme damage and flooding. We didn’t lose power but our basement filled with a few inches of water. Luckily, that’s all that happened. One of Joe’s restaurants was flooded so he is assessing the damage this morning.
That being said, I wish Irene held off one more day so I wouldn’t have had to go to work today, but that’s just me being selfish! We ended up having a delayed opening at 10:00 AM, which is nice. After a long weekend cooped up in the house, eating and drinking our faces off…

…it felt good to get back the gym. We could have slept in later but Joe wanted to go check out the restaurant status ASAP.
I did last weeks ab routine followed by a hodge podge 30 minute interval workout on the treadmill.
I finished up with 10 minutes on the elliptical and 5 minutes on the bike. The hip has not been happy lately.
Since they were completely out of bananas at the grocery store this weekend (apparently they are a great option to have during a hurricane) I didn’t have any for my smoothie. Boo. I ended up making something totally random but it turned out pretty good.
Loads of ice
1 cup almond milk
1 scoop about time birthday cake protein powder
1/2 cup blackberries
2 tbsp. PB2
A few shakes of cinnamon
1 stevia packet (probably didn’t need it)
The berry and cinnamon combo was quite delicious.
I enjoyed it out of the usual beer glass (maybe one day we will get nice glasses instead of using extras from Joe’s bar) next to the wine Joe brought home for this weekend.
We only drank 3 bottles but obviously he was preparing for the worst.
Now I’m off to work. My boss was on vacation last week and couldn’t get a flight back to NYC until tomorrow afternoon. At least she’s “stuck” in California… could be worse!
