Although my morning started out terrible (doctors office running behind, parking ticket, traffic), I didn’t let it ruin day 1 of the Healthy Living Summit.
Luckily, I was still able to get a workout in before packing up the car, making a smoothie, and hitting the road.
I only made one necessary pit stop before arriving in Philadelphia.
I arrived around 12:45, just in time to settle in the Philadelphia Downtown Marriott room and meet some fellow bloggers for lunch at Govinda’s Vegetarian Restaurant. Our group ended up being about 50 people and I think they were overwhelmed at the line out the door!
I couldn’t decide between the chicken cheesesteak or the kofta sub, which was basically a vegetarian meatball sub.
I went with the Kafta! It had just enough marina sauce and plenty of mozzarella cheese.
Being that I hadn’t eaten since 7:30 AM, I was starving and finished the entire sub. We all stayed and chatted for a while until it was time to head back to the hotel for registration. We picked up our name badges as well as a pretty sweet swag bag.
My roomie Shanna and I went back to the room and basically talked our faces off until it was time to get ready for the cocktail party at the Reading Terminal Market. It was the perfect location for the event. I need to check it out during the day when all of the shops are open.
Shan and I found our photos on the collages, right next to each other!
The cocktails available were wine, beer, and a special drink made with chia seeds. It even came with a glow stick, which we thought was a straw at first, but clearly weren’t thinking straight.
The hors d’ oeuvres included fresh fruit, assorted flatbreads, cheese, crackers, bruschetta, vegetables, dip, nuts, and passed hors d’oeuvres such as pretzel crusted chicken and cheesesteak empanadas.
I made a small plate and probably could have had more, but I was too busy chatting with everyone!
Around 10:00, it was time to wrap up and head back to the hotel for some sleep.
