I know I’ve said it before, but I am always in a bad mood when I don’t workout. I need that morning boost to keep me going all day. My knee has been randomly bothering me, almost similar to a tendonitis pain. I’ve never had knee pain or problems, mind you, only my hips, so this is quite discerning. I thought after Yoga on Saturday I’d have great running mileage this week but it looks like just the opposite. Anyway, I’ve been in a weird mood for the last three days and I attribute it to the fact that I’ve been cheating on the gym with sleep. I know sometimes the body needs rest, but I’m craving a workout, I just need the motivation. It’s just difficult when I know I can’t run and that’s what I want to do. I guess I should refer to Janae, the Hungry Runner Girl, for help with that!
On Saturday, I roasted brussell sprouts with olive oil, salt, and pepper to have ready for this week’s lunch. I ate about half, but I lightly chopped the rest in my dry blending container for my Vitamix. It chopped them up enough to be like a salad. For lunch today, I brought it as a salad base and topped it off with red bell peppers, celery, and a Jalapeño Al Fresco chicken sausage. See, I told you I’d be trying more flavors! I also brought a wheat tortilla and hummus on the side.
Brussell sprouts are a great alternative to lettuce!
What are your favorite activities aside from your normal gym routine that give you a great workout?

mmm that “salad” looks delicious! What a great idea to sub brussel sprouts for lettuce!
I also get realllly cranky when I don’t workout in the morning. There’s just something about starting your day on the right foot.
My favorite non-typical workout is rollerblading
I don’t get to do it very often, but when I do, it’s a blast!
Ahh I haven’t rollerbladed in so long! I used to LOVE it!
Great idea with the brussels sprouts! Really, can’t believe I never thought of that.
I love indoor rock climbing. Especially, at Brooklyn Boulder – the place is huge!
