Yesterday was spent cooking out and celebrating Joe’s nieces 3rd birthday. Adorable! The backyard was set up so cute. This is probably the ultimate birthday party for a three year old. Gumballs and balloons on the tables, candy bar, bouncy castle, rediculous!
After helping make the mojitos and sangria (and having a few!), appetizers were served. There was pizza bread, kobe hotdogs, shrimp, chicken, and dips. Later, they grilled cheeseburgers, skirt steak, and BBQ chicken and served potato salad, corn on the cob, and grilled veggies on the side.
Joe and I split a cheeseburger (unpictured, eaten way too fast), grilled veggies, a skirt steak sandwich and corn on the cob.
After dinner, it was time for cake. She had a cake made by someone I had recommended to her. It went along with the theme of the party.. Candy! The cake was a swirly pop and the stem was rice krispies (all covered in fondant) with some additional cupcakes on the side.
She also had Oreo balls made for some extra sugar….because the candy wasn’t enough. Picture an inground pool, bouncy castle, butt loads of candy and about a dozen kids from 3-10 years of age. Yea…
We had a good time though and luckily it was a really nice day! Unfortunately I think all of the sugar got to me (or hopefully not the medium rare burger) because my stomach has been upset with me all morning. I didn’t make it to the gym but I have every intention of doing a full body workout tomorrow since I am leaving on Wednesday for St. John’s for 5 days!
Between this weekend and my vacation I will probably stray a little from the normal healthy lifestyle blogging, but not completely! It’s vacation so I am going to splurge but I do have plans to eat a healthy breakfast and get up early to exercise a little each morning! If I don’t feel like it, then I won’t! Either way, I am going to enjoy myself.
