Last night, my friend Kristina and I went out for dinner to celebrate my birthday. Since during the week is always crazy we decided to do it on Saturday. Everyone was out of town or working so it ended up being just the two of us, but that’s okay; I will get to why that is.
We were excited to try a new place in town called Harvest Cuisine. Its BYO so Kristina brought an awesome bottle of sparkling Shiraz that she got while wine tasting last week.
I love sparkling anything, but red sparkling wine is amazing. We perused the menu and wanted pretty much everything, so we decided to just split a bunch of things. I think that’s always the best way to go! To start, we ordered the Mediterranean 3 Dips which included black bean hummus, goat cheese
and tzatziki fondue. It was served with pita bread, plantain chips, and corn chips. We almost polished off the whole thing and could have easily had just that for dinner!
We were both starting to get stuffed, but we had so much more food coming! We ordered two sushi rolls. Since the place was a variety of cuisine fused into one, the rolls were very unique. We ordered ordered the Short Ribs roll which contained cilantro, onions, avocado and sweet plantains and spicy cilantro sauce. The second roll was called Seafood and it contained seafood ceviche, avocado caper aioli.
They were both served with a jalapeno sauce and a sweet and spicy sauce.
Perfect for dipping! Before we were finished, the appetizer and entree we ordered to split arrived. We got the Steamed Mussels with garlic white wine sauce, fresh herbs, and garlic croutons.
Soooo tasty! I am betting there was a ton of butter, not mentioned on the menu, but I couldn’t help but dip some toast in there! The entree we decided on was the Black Sesame Crusted Tuna with cucumber slaw, wasabi coriander and coconut sauce.
The coconut sauce made the dish! It took us so long to finally finish because we were so stuffed, we just kept picking at the remaining bites. We have intentions to come back here ASAP to try the rest of the menu. We were very pleased.
Last, was dessert. Kristina mentioned having some sweets for me, but little did I know it was going to be MACARONS FROM MACARON CAFE!
This is why she is my best friend. Seriously, best birthday sweets ever. She got the following flavors: dark chocolate, chocolate coconut, vanilla, white chocolate, lemon, mocha, peanut butter x2 (duh), rose lychee, passion fruit, coconut, and pineapple.
Her idea was exactly was I had in mind. We pretty much sat there and each took a taste test bite.
We decided to bring the remainders to Joe. Yep, nothing ever happened. This is how they came.
I was nice enough to give him a full peanut butter one, which worked out in my favor because he gave me half of it anyway after devouring the rest of the half bitten macarons.
Both Kristina and I used to work at a nearby boutique, which was hosting a white party at a local bar with some other sponsors. We decided to go for a bit to see some friends that couldn’t make it to dinner because they were working the event. On our way, we spotted this.
Seriously, haven’t you wondered how Google Maps does it? This crazy car with a camera is what takes pictures for Google Maps. Craziness!
We got to the white party, where they had a cheesy picture setting waiting for us.
I am totally not feeling that picture, but I put it on here for Kristina! I forced another one once we got inside!
Much better! Thanks for the great Birthday celebration Kristina!
I am now off to Joe’s niece’s birthday cookout. Should be fun! Catch ya later!
