Homemade Pizza

Did I make homemade pizza? No. Last night, my friends Kristina, Carrie, and I tried out a new place called Homemade Pizza. The deal is that you choose your pizza crust and topping and bring it home to bake yourself.

The look of the place wasn’t all that enticing, as everything was white and it was freezing cold when we walked in.

But after checking out all the options on the menu, I was a little more excited!

I chose the small 9 inch personal pie with whole grain wheat crust, tomato sauce, parmesan cheese, basil, mushrooms, and tomatoes.

I had a hard time deciding, which is always the case, but I stuck to healthy route. We also ordered a salad to split that included avocado, onions, pineapple, and a honey lime dressing. For dessert, they had huge cookies that you take home and bake yourself, too! We went with the chocolate chip. It serves 8, or 3 hungry girls.

While we waited, they told us to feel free and draw on one of the cardboard pizza cut outs and they would put it in the window. You know we were all over that.

When our food was ready, we headed out but stopped to check out our beautiful drawing in the window before walking to Kristina’s apartment.

We popped our pizzas in the oven as soon as we got home.

Pre-baked

We enjoyed our salad while waiting.

Then, as soon as the oven went off we dug in.

Mine was very tasty and I didn’t feel terrible after eating the entire thing because the ingredients were all natural. Last but not least, we popped the cookie in the oven, maybe a little too long because it was kind of dark. Didn’t matter, it was still ooey gooey and chocolatey!

Perfect end to the night!

Today

Joe and I slept until about 8:30, which is pretty late for a Saturday I guess. I actually wanted to get up earlier to get some things done because we had a birthday party at 2:00. My workout was awesome. Since I missed yesterday, I amped it up today. I did:

  • 20 minutes abs
  • 1 mile run (8:22)
  • Back, shoulders, chest, biceps, triceps
  • 1 mile run (7:48 )
  • Hamstrings, calves, glutes, hip adductor
  • 1 miles run (7:42)
  • 5:00 on the bike as a cooldown

I love mixing it up like that. Running in between kept my heart rate up the whole time and I left the gym a sweaty mess. I was also able to pay attention to the time per mile, which I obviously tried to increase every time and ended up sprinting the last one.

I was craving oatmeal so I decided to whip up a batch with some protein powder. I ended up making something that tasted kind of like PBJ! Well, ABJ (almond butter due to a PB shortage in the house).

In the mix:

  • 1/2 cup oats
  • pinch salt
  • lots of cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 2 tbsp chia seeds
  • big handful of blueberries
  • Vanilla SunWarrior protein powder

I heated it all up in the pan adding the protein powder at the very end. I love when blueberries get hot and they explode and ooze purple mush. Awesome. I topped it off with:

  • Strawberries
  • Wild blueberry jam from my Farmer’s Market trip
  • Runny (yes, runny, it’s the best for topping) roasted almond butter

before I added the almond buttah!

It was an awesome combo. Unfortunately since we were already running late, grocery shopping and laundry had to wait until after the birthday party. Joe’s friend’s son was turning two and having a Curious George themed party. Needless to say, Joe and I enjoyed many of these guys.

One of the birthday boy’s mother’s friends made these monkey cupcakes! The monkey’s mouths and ears were Nilla wafers on chocolate cake and icing. In Curious George, apparently there is a Man in a Yellow Hat and I don’t know why I don’t remember. Regardless, this is obviously why some of the vanilla cupcakes were decorated with that and some with banana runts. We easily each had 4 cupcakes. Good thing she made a lot! Little kids eat 1/2 of one, big kids eat 4!

I didn’t feel like going to the grocery store when I got home since Joe had to head right to work for the night and I was just tired and lazy after eating so much sugar and a few glasses of sangria. I ended up going to the other grocery store in town just our of curiosity to see if they had any fun or new products. Sometimes I find that our grocery store doesn’t always have everything I want, but I like the layout and lighting better. I know, weird. Anyway, I obviously made a good decision because look what I found.

Ummmm WHAT? Jackpot! Is someone watching us? I mean… one pound of sprinkles. Im actually scared that this might just fuel our sprinkle obsession and we’ll finish it in a week anyway. Serious sprinkle massacre is going on right now.

Right now I am waiting to hear from Joe to see if I should throw some stuff in a bag for the beach tomorrow. His parents and sisters are already down at the shore house and since it’s Father’s Day, Joe wanted to try to go for a bit. Since he is closing tonight, he was just going to drive us down when he gets home (which is usually around 3am). I will obviously do the zombie walk to the car and sleep the whole hour and get right back into bed. I hope it’s nice out if we do go so that I can work on my tan!

Ciao!
